For this activity, NC CIVIL is calling on volunteers to help us get the word out to our local community about an upcoming community event. Volunteers will be packaging information and going out to distribute flyers in high traffic areas around the community.
Approved areas for posters include (community public libraries, community recreation centers, local community oriented businesses (ex. the Breakfast Bar, the Scullery, barber & beauty shops), bulletin boards wherever they are known to exist, etc. Confirm with your NC CIVIL Volunteer Coordinator about other locations you think might be a good fit.
For flyers: feel free to place SMALL STACKS OF NO MORE THAN 25 in areas for people to take. No flyers under any circumstances should be placed outside, on cars, or on private property ever, unless you are placing them in an individual’s hand!
Also, with respect for both public and private spaces, unless there is a clear policy that allows community members to hang a poster or flyers, always ask for someone in charge to request permission – even for the friendly businesses listed by name above.
***Important*** For any flyers or posters you place, to receive credit, you must take a picture of the placement and text that picture to the NC CIVIL number and include the location of the placement.
